What is Occupational Therapy
Living with greater capability, confidence, and independence
Occupational therapy is a healthcare profession rooted in the belief that engagement in meaningful daily activity - or "occupation" - is fundamental to health and well-being. OTs work with people of all ages to develop, restore, or maintain the skills needed to participate fully in life.
From a child learning to write their name to an adult recovering from an illness or navigating anxiety or grief, OT addresses the whole person: body, mind, soul and the practical demands of everyday life. Treatment is hands-on, goal-driven, and deeply personal: built around your unique needs, strengths, and circumstances. The focus is not on what was, but on what is possible - and what comes next.
PEDIATRIC OT
Helping children unlock their full potential
Children learn and grow through doing. When a child struggles with the tasks of childhood, sitting still in class, forming letters on a page, understanding and following directions, it touches every part of their world. Pediatric OT targets the underlying skills that make learning and daily life possible, so children can flourish at school, at home, and with friends.

Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, or a season of transition, OT offers practical, compassionate support for the life in front of you.
Adult mental health OT at Integrated Life weaves together evidence-based occupational therapy, cognitive behavioral techniques, and faith-informed coaching - meeting you as a whole person: body, mind, and soul. You are not defined by your diagnosis or your hardest season. The work here is always oriented toward the best version of you, not a return to who you were, but a fuller becoming of who you are meant to be.

FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION COACHING

Food is not just fuel, it is information. Every meal you eat sends signals to your body that either support healing and vitality or quietly work against it. Functional nutrition looks at the whole picture: what you eat, how you digest, how you sleep, how you move, and how stress, emotion, and environment shape your body's ability to thrive.
As a certified Functional Nutrition Practitioner, Katie works with you to uncover the root causes of fatigue, brain fog, mood instability, digestive distress, hormonal imbalance, and other symptoms that conventional approaches often leave unaddressed. Rather than masking what the body is communicating, functional nutrition listens to it - and responds with targeted, personalized strategies rooted in whole foods, lifestyle, and the body's own remarkable capacity for healing.
This coaching is not a diet program. It is a return to wholeness - body, mind, and soul working together as they were designed to. Whether you are navigating a chronic health concern, recovering from burnout, or simply ready to feel like yourself again, Functional Nutrition Coaching offers a compassionate, evidence-informed path forward.
Health is not merely the absence of illness. It is the freedom to fully inhabit your life, and you were made for that freedom.

About Katie
Some people find their calling. Katie has spent her life living hers.
Growing up in a large imperfect family, Katie was shaped early by a deep desire to see the people around her flourish. She wanted to understand people - what made them struggle, what helped them heal, and how to come alongside them in a way that made a real difference. When she discovered occupational therapy in college, she recognized it immediately as the vehicle for that calling. It was hands-on, whole-person, and built around helping people do the things that matter most in their daily lives.
Katie graduated from Texas Woman's University in Denton, Texas in 1995 and went on to work across nearly every OT setting - acute care, rehab, schools, outpatient, and beyond. Through it all, two populations captured her heart most deeply: children who were struggling to learn and grow, and adults navigating the weight of mental and emotional hardship.
Her path has not been without its own profound sorrows. At 23, Katie lost her sister suddenly and unexpectedly - a grief that arrived without warning and changed her forever. Not long after, a beloved sister-in-law was taken by leukemia, leaving another aching absence in the fabric of family life. Katie and her husband of 35 years have also walked the tender, often silent road of pregnancy loss - five of their twelve children known only briefly, but carried always.
For the past 25 years, Katie has woven her work as an occupational therapist together with the profound vocation of educating her children at home - a daily practice of presence, patience, and purpose that has only deepened her understanding of how children learn, struggle, and grow. These experiences deepened her and gave her a fluency in grief that no textbook could provide, and a compassionate attentiveness to others walking through loss that can only come from having walked it yourself. That journey is what led Katie to become credentialed in adult mental health and a certified grief coach - so that no woman has to navigate her loss alone.
Her own health challenges over the years sent her on a different kind of search, one that eventually led her to functional nutrition. Discovering the profound connection between what we eat, how we live, and how we feel opened a new dimension of whole-person care that she now brings to the women and families she serves.
Today, Katie brings more than 30 years of clinical experience, a rich tapestry of specialized training, and a life genuinely lived - with all its joy, loss, and hard-won wisdom - to every person who walks through her door.
Integrated Life is not just the name of her practice. It is the vision she holds for every one of her clients: a life that is whole, purposeful, and fully alive.
